SEASON - Chronicle Books (Release Date October 2nd, 2018)
On a cool breezy September morning in Oakland, I pulled out an old blue fabric bound lab notebook and started to jot down words that would eventually become the bones of my book Season. I scribbled out notes and thought about the tastes and aromas I love. Things that I wanted to eat and drink all the time. Flavors that I missed from Bombay in India, tastes that I missed from the Midwest and the East Coast and the things I now relished in California. I wanted to put all of this together in a book and share my food and seasoning philosophy with you. Why I do the crazy things I do and hopefully encourage you to experiment in your kitchens and approach seasonings without fear. This book is about an immigrant’s experience, a colored, gay one at that, told through food, words and imagery. And I hope you love it as much as I have enjoyed working on it!
